Location and Boundaries
Singleton is bounded by Peacock Avenue and the suburb of Golden Bay in the north, Mandurah Road in the east, the City of Mandurah in the south, and the Indian Ocean in the west.

Name Origin
Singleton is named after Captain Francis Corbet Singleton, a member of the first Board of Road Directors in the area.

Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from the late 1830s. Population was minimal until the 1950s. Significant development did not occur until the 1980s. Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s, with the population more than trebling between 1991 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area. Growth is expected to continue, largely from the Bayshore Beachside development.
