The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) invites people to make a submission on the Mangles Bay Marina Based Tourist Precinct proposal. Both electronic and hard copy submissions are most welcome.

Cedar Woods Properties Limited proposes to develop a tourist based marina development within the City of Rockingham, approximately 40km south of Perth. The proposed development is at the southern end of Cockburn Sound, immediately east of the Garden Island Causeway and bounded by Hymus Street / Safety Bay Road to the east. The proposed development would have a single entrance and would accommodate about 500 boats and would incorporate local boating clubs, commercial areas and boat pens for public use. The surrounding land development would be ‘mixed use’ with tourism facilities, accommodation, commercial areas, public open space and residential areas.

In accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act), and Environmental Scoping Document (ESD) has been prepared in accordance with Western Australian Government procedures and is released for public review. The Environmental Scoping Document describes the proposal, summaries current knowledge about the area, identifies environmental issues associated with the proposal and further works to be carried out and provides an outline of the contents for the Public Environmental Review (PER).

The ESD is available for a public review period of 2 weeks from Monday 7 February 2011 closing on Monday 21 February 2011.

Comments from government agencies and from the public will help the proponent and the EPA finalise the scope of work that will provide the information required for the PER document.

Singleton Residents- be involved in the planning process. Have a look at the report and maps and fill out the questionnaire. This study will affect the future of Singleton. The public consultation period ends on the 4th March.

Go online to download the reports, maps and questionnaire: http://www.rockingham.wa.gov.au/Business-and-development/Town-planning-advertising.aspx

The City has appointed Consultants to undertake a study to evaluate the natural landscape features and visual amenity of the land adjacent to Mandurah Road in Singleton, Golden Bay and Secret Harbour.

When completed, the Visual Landscape Study will be used by the City in it’s consideration of regional and local planning initiatives and proposals.

As part of the Study, the City is keen to find out how the community views and experiences the landscape in this area and what it values most about it. In this regard, the draft Visual Landscape Study is to be advertised for public comment from the 4th February 2011 to the 4th March 2011.

A Community Drop-In Day is to be held at the Coastal Community Centre, Tangadee Road, Golden Bay on Saturday, 12th February 2011, between 10.30am and 3.00pm and the Consultant Team will be happy to answer questions and receive feedback on the draft Visual Landscape Study.

You can provide your feedback on the draft Visual Landscape Study by downloading and completing the Questionnaire or by completing a Questionnaire at the Community Drop-In Day.
