Singleton: October 28th
November and December were very busy at Council and very good for our community.
At the November meeting the Council resolved to re-instate Singleton and Golden Bay in its Planning Policy 3.3.17 – Variations to Building Envelopes. The Policy now contains the words, “In the case of Golden Bay and Singleton Rural and Special Residential zones, the location of the envelopes was specifically intended to maintain the rural attributes and appearance of the land, looking westward from Mandurah Roa and looking to the east from the townsites of Singleton and Golden Bay.”
The Council also resolved that desisions on moving building envelopes will be referred to Council rather than being made by staff through delegated authority.
This was a great win for our communities.
In December the Council considered the widely opposed Proposed Golden Bay Stucture Plan. Prior to the Council meeting on December 13 a Special Electors’ Meeting, attended by 330 people, was held on December 8.
The Council resolved to not endorse the Structure Plan and also resolved to not proceed with Amendment 106, which would have removed limitations on how dense a development could be.
The Council decision, along with the Planner’s Report, copies of the public submissions and a report on the Special Electors’ Meeting, with be forwarded to the WA Planning Commission for decision by early February. The decision will be forwarded to the Ministe for Planning for the final decision.
The community and the Council has done all it can. Time will tell what the final decision will be.
