Community Bar-B-Cue

April ended with a beautiful BBQ Saturday in Harmony Park – and I am sure that all those who turned up enjoyed the day, the food and the company of other Singletonians. It was good to see people enjoying themselves in a good old fashioned community way and it is something the SRA would like to see grow to event that all look forward to.

Our thanks go to the City of Rockingham for both its financial assistance and for its Neighbour Watch team who took time out on a weekend to provide us with helpful information and worthwhile messages of how communities can and should watch out for each other. The local PCA also attended and provided some localised information about it Safe Home program and of the benefits of people offering their homes as identified Safe zones in case the need for help should arise.

If any of our readers would like more information on either programme please contact any of the SRA committee.

Our thanks must also go to Clifton Reynolds at Smithfield Fine Foods of Secret Harbour who helped to stretch our dollars out and provided us with excellent meat that made up into the best burger.

I must also thank our team of SRA volunteers, organiser Roger Jefferson, master chefs Ken Bird and Karl Roots, salad supremo’s Brenda Jefferson, Dolores Watson, Jack and Edna Mather and the Warner’s. Harry and I watched and young Josh Nolan did the good job he always does.

Please help us create a BBQ day that other communities will envy – all we need is your support, your help and, of course your donation. $5 or $10 from every household will ensure a great Xmas Fair and great BBQ days every year. Any committee member will gladly collect your donation.
