I am a commuter cyclist who rides to Mandurah at least 3 times a week. I ride on the highway as far Madora Bay and jump on the path from there. The path from Madora Bay to “nowhere” is useless and even dangerous for a cyclist heading south.
I have been horrified to see families with young children cycle southwards against the flow of traffic to reach the path. An accident is only a matter of time.
Please finish the path!
I am sure many people have heard about the tragic accident involving an 18 year old cyclist and a 4wd on Old Mandurah Road on Sunday. The City of Rockingham has to take some sort of responsibility for this tragic event and it is about time they realise that it is CRITICAL that a bike path be constructed along this route… The City of Mandurah has done their part, it is time the City of Rockginahm does theirs…. This child is now fighting for his life in hospital…. who’s child, spouse or sibling is going to be next ?
Weekend Courier Firday 24 December (Page 3) – has confirmed that the City of Rockingham has NO PLANS to construct the bike path along Old Mandurah Road – again they have refused to confirm that a bike path along this route will ever be built – but only confirm that they will revisit the issue.
